PTFA

Our Parents, Teachers and Friends Association (PTFA) is a registered charity with the aim of raising money for facilities or equipment not normally provided for within the school budget. This involves anyone who has a link with the school and wants to be involved in raising funds.

At our AGM each Autumn term a group of core volunteers agrees to run the organisation as chairperson, secretary and treasurer but all parents are encouraged to help and support its functions.

The money raised always benefits the children and parents are consulted as to where the money is spent each year. We also receive funding requests from the teachers for their classes and from the preschool.

School projects we have supported

Over the past few years, we have funded equipment & projects such as –

  • Chromebooks – one for each class member to use (used by 1 class at a time)
  • Gardening Club equipment
  • Transport for school trips
  • The Preschool Lean To
  • Books and equipment for classes
  • Book bags for new starters and books for year 6 leavers
  • Renewing the Polytunnel
  • Plants for the Bee Garden project

plus, many more smaller projects!

How can I get involved?

Most importantly we need everyone to support the events by coming along! We understand that not everyone can commit their time regularly due to work, family and other commitments but if you have any ideas, contacts for raffle prizes, equipment you are able to lend for events such as lighting, marquees or barbeques or would like to help in any other way please get in touch. There is usually one of us waiting on the playground after school.

We meet two or three times a term, but there is no need to come to all the meetings in order to be involved.

Fundraising Events

We have previously raised money by organising the following events –

  • Lots of cake sales, nearly new sales and book swaps
  • Annual Duck Race and Easter Extravaganza
  • Christmas Raffle with donated prizes from local businesses and parents
  • Christmas Fayre with local stalls and a visit from Father Christmas
  • End of term party
  • Barn dance & raffle
  • Cream tea afternoon
  • Mufti days and discos
  • Xmas door swag making
  • Film nights

plus other funding sources such as Easy Fundraising
